Upgrading a Macbook Pro
Tuesday 17 April 2012 at 2:23 pmIf you're of the mindset that a Macbook Pro can't have its hardware upgraded, you're in for a surprise - for a surprisingly reasonable sum, you can double your hard-drive space and your RAM, giving you a space and performance boost that you're probably going to enjoy, somewhat! So, why should you consider upgrading, and what should you look for?
RAM
With RAM, you're increasing the amount of memory the Macbook Pro has available while running all the tasks you've set it, whether actively or just by having the computer on and running. Anything from music editing software, to Photoshop, to the browser you're emailing from and playing Partypoker.com will feel a little smoother and more capable with a RAM boost.

Ideally, a lot of Macbook Pros will already have 4GB in RAM, and models that are around a couple years old or newer (from 2010, if you're reading this in the far future on your iPad 19) will accept 8GB - that is, two sticks (a descriptive term for a RAM board) of 4GB, rather than the two sticks of 2GB. Don't pay through the nose! These shouldn't cost you a three-figure sum if you're shopping in the right places. On to the hard drive.
